The End of Summer Throwdown is exactly what it sounds like and nothing like what you would expect. It is the biggest night of our annual calendar — louder than the others, longer, more deliberately alive. It is, emphatically, a party.

But it is a party with structure underneath it. We know what we are celebrating: the close of the season, the weight of what the summer held, the permission to let it go now. That is what a good send-off does — it marks the thing so you can release it without losing it.

Expect dancing. Expect a lineup. Expect food that has been prepared with some seriousness even if the room is not being serious. Expect to stay later than you planned.
